Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Faulkner is the staff surgeon at Gateway Animal Hospital. Dr. Faulkner is a 1971 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to attending Auburn University and obtaining his DVM degree, Dr. Faulkner attended the University of Florida where he graduated with a BS degree in animal science. Dr. Faulkner also served 5 years in the US Army Veterinary Corps. Dr. Faulkner served at Fort Detrick, in Frederick Maryland, and Fort Gordon, in Augusta Georgia. In 1976, Dr. Faulkner attended the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he completed a one year small animal Surgical Internship and a three year Small Animal Surgical Residency. He also completed a Masters degree in veterinary surgery, radiology and anesthesia. In 1982, Dr. Faulkner came to the St. Petersburg area and set up his surgical practice. Dr. Faulkner has performed surgical services for many hospitals in Pinellas County, Florida. In addition, he has provided surgical services for the SPCA of Pinellas County and the Humane Society of North Pinellas. Dr. Faulkner also has extensive experience in small animal veterinary emergency medicine and was the manager and chief clinician for over six years at the Animal Emergency Clinic in St. Petersburg.
