Veterinarian Overview
Dr. John Wight has been a resident of Central Florida since childhood. After a tour in the United States Marine Corps he returned to Orlando and completed his undergraduate work preparing for vet school. In 1991 he moved to Gainesville, FL for graduate studies at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Graduating in May, 1995, Dr. Wight was selected for an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. After OSU, he returned to Orlando and entered private practice. Since 1999 Dr. Wight has been serving dozens of local clinics as a relief veterinarian and a "visiting surgeon". By partnering with the Network Clinics he has been able to offer more options for surgery, benefiting the clients, the patients, and the clinics. When he's not practicing veterinary medicine and surgery, Dr. Wight enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. He's an avid cyclist and triathlete and has run several marathons and an Ironman triathlon. In 2010 he climbed Mt. Whitney (14,500 ft.) with two nephews, and in 2011 he and his son rode their bicycles from San Francisco, CA to Charleston, SC. Blessed with an awesome wife and four wonderful kids, life is definitely an adventure.
