Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Barbara Tomaras was born and raised in Porto, Portugal. She Graduated from Oporto University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Following her graduation, she spent 18 months doing externships in 6 different cities in Europe and the USA. During those 18 months Dr. Tomaras worked with many different species and areas of interest: to come to the conclusion that her dream was to be an exotic animal veterinarian.While doing a 3 month externship with Dr. Don Harris at Avian & Exotic Animal Medical Center, she decided that Miami was an amazing place to be an exotic animal vet and moved here to begin practicing. Since then and after getting her American Veterinary license, Dr. Tomaras has been working exclusively with exotic animals in two different veterinary hospitals and a house call practice in Broward.In 2014, Dr Tomaras opened Exoticare Veterinary Services a house call veterinary practice.Dr. Tomaras is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese (her native language).
