Veterinarian Overview
Coming from a farm/ranching background in western Kansas, Dr. Derks obtained his B.S. & DVM degrees at Kansas State University. After graduation, he practiced for a short time in the Chicago area before relocation to Miami. Since then, he has practiced in the Pinecrest-Palmetto Bay-Falls area since 1966. He established the present Derks Animal Clinic in 1976 and has joined in the practice by Dr. Ron Todd in 1978. His children, and now his grandchildren have occupied most of his spare time. Designing and building structures and furniture satisfy his other creative efforts which might explain his special interest in surgery.
