Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Claire Caruana is a lifelong Florida girl! She grew up on the gulf coast in Pinellas County, earned her Biology degree at UCF and attended veterinary school at the University of Florida. She worked in both general practice and emergency medicine for 5 years before joining the team at Courtenay Animal Hospital. She is excited to be living and working on the Space Coast! Companion exotic animals have always been a passion for Dr. Caruana and she especially enjoys working with birds, reptiles and small mammals. She likes the challenge of treating a variety of species and meeting their unique needs. She also has a special interest in dog and cat internal medicine, dermatology and soft tissue surgery. During her first year of clinical practice, Dr. Caruana became certified in Small Animal Acupuncture and she offers integrative and natural therapies along with traditional medical care. When she is not working, she enjoys yoga, reading, kayaking and spending time with her furry & scaly family members. She has a dog (Pixie), a cat (Lionel) and 4 snakes (Rocky BalBoa, David Bowie, Lambada and Lunch)!
