Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Anthea E. Schick earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1994. She then attended Cornell University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. While at Cornell, Dr. Schick worked with some of the leading veterinary dermatologists in the country. In 2003, Dr. Schick completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at a private referral practice in Albuquerque, N.M. After completing a residency at Dermatology for Animals in 2006 and achieving her board certification from the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) in 2007, she decided to stay on with the team and, in 2009, became part owner of Dermatology for Animals. As an educator, Dr. Schick has given continuing education lectures to veterinarians around the U.S. She helps train visiting senior veterinary students, interns and dermatology residents. Dr. Schick is an adjunct clinical professor at Midwestern Veterinary School and has severed as Chair of the ACVD Education Committee. Dr. Schick has published over twelve research articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to a clinical textbook on Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Schick enjoys all aspects of veterinary dermatology but has a special interest in allergies and ear disease. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Arizona and California Veterinary Medical Associations, the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology and the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Schick practices in several western states including Arizona (Scottsdale), California (Oakland) and Utah (Salt Lake City). At home in Tempe, AZ, Dr. Schick lives with her husband, two daughters and collection of furry feathered and scaly pets. In her free time she enjoys yoga, hiking, rafting, traveling and spending time with family.
