Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Wessel is a 2003 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Raised on Old McDonalds Farm in Iowa growing swine, dairy cows, registered Angus cow/calf herd, cutting horses, cats, and 1 dog, she moved to California to chase her dream of dairy cows, sun and Palm trees. In addition to working moos, as her son says, Jennifer is an active member locally of the Tulare County Farm Bureau. She has served as a District 2 Director, had several leadership roles in Tulare County Young Farmers & Ranchers and has represented Tulare County on the State Young Farmers & Ranchers committee. Jennifer has just completed her term for the California Farm Bureau Animal Health and Welfare Committee as chair of the committee and recently served as vice-chair of the CFBF Political Action Committee. She was appointed to the American Farm Bureau Federation Animal Health Commodity Committee in 2014 in Washington, D.C. In 2011, Jennifer was awarded the Excellence in Agriculture award by the California Farm Bureau Federation for her achievements professionally in agriculture and her service to Farm Bureau. Jennifer and her husband, Josh Pitigliano, went on to be awarded top 10 honors from the American Farm Bureau Federation later that year. In addition, she has served the local veterinary medicine organization as secretary, represented the Tulare-Kings Veterinary Medicine Association at the California Veterinary Medicine Association House of Delegates and was appointed to the California Veterinary Medicine Association Agriculture Committee. In 2015, she was selected to serve on the AABP Antibiotic Stewardship Task Force to address forthcoming antibiotic issues in food animal medicine.
