Veterinarian Overview
Our patients usually find their way to Dr. Hayes via family veterinarians who refer their patients to Veterinary Emergency of Truckee for out-of-hours care in pet emergencies illnesses or accidents and her emergency veterinarian care and skills. Once Dr. Hayes treats them and gets them feeling better, they return to their family vet for ongoing care.Dr. Hayes is drawn to emergency veterinarian practice because its varied, interesting and challenging. She sees a wide range of pet emergencies, including: dog fight or dog bite wounds, lacerations, cat bite abscesses, porcupine quills(!!!), toxicities, lameness, ear or skin infections and a range of endocrine problems: diabetes cancer, urinary tract infections/obstructions. There just isnt a routine weekend for Dr. Hayes!Dr. Hayes earned her DVM from UC Davis in 1986 and she has been associated with Veterinary Emergency of Truckee since December 2014. She lives in Truckee with her three sons and enjoys providing care in the community she lives in. At home, she has a black cat, a German Shepherd, and a Dachshund all three are rescues. In her free time, she enjoys down hill and cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking and hanging out with her boys.
