Veterinarian Overview
Dr. CJ Smith grew up in a house with cats, dogs, and rabbits. She graduated from MIT with a degree in Computer Science, but after twenty years in the computer industry she decided to shift gears and pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She gained her pre-veterinary school experience right here at SVC, working as a veterinary assistant, and we were thrilled when she was accepted to UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Five years later, after earning her veterinary degree and completing a year-long small animal rotating internship in Walnut Creek, she returned "home" to her family at Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic in 2016. Dr. Smith treats dogs and cats, and is particularly interested in preventive medicine, neonatal care, and surgery. She is a devoted cat parent, coming home each evening to Scaredy, Callisto, and Joule. In her spare time, she enjoys calling for square dances, flying small aircraft (sometimes upside down!), and traveling with her husband.
