Veterinarian Overview
I am thrilled to find my way back to Marin Country, working as a veterinarian at VCA Tender Care. At the age of eleven, I started working as an animal care assistant at a nearby veterinary practice in my hometown of Amherst, Mass; this early foray into veterinary medicine led to a life-long passion focused on providing optimal health and wellbeing for the animal companions in our lives. After 10 years in private practice, my interest in preventive medicine and the link between human, animal, and environmental health, led me back to graduate school to earn a degree in epidemiology at UC Davis. Since completing the program in 2011, I divide my time between conservation medicine research at the San Francisco Zoo and work as a small animal veterinarian. I find this mix perfectly balances my interest in big picture global health issues with the intimacy of caring for peoples pets. As a veterinarian, I am particularly interested in medicine that focuses on disease prevention. I also have a special soft spot for geriatric care and strive to create a comfortable environment for clients when faced with the challenges of caring for aging animals.Outside of work, I enjoy the typical Bay Area pastimes: running, hiking the trails, and hanging out with family and friends. On weekends, I am usually busy searching for hidden treasure with my five year old or exploring the nearby park with my beloved mutt, Gracie. My son, Arlo, is lobbying hard to add a feline to the family mix, so stay tuned!
