Veterinarian Overview
Co-Founder of the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin in 1998, Dr. Dana was our original Operations and Medical Director. He has remained active in emergency care for over 40 years also helping to establish and manage the first veterinary emergency hospital in Santa Barbara as a Registered Animal Health Technician before attending both U.C. Santa Barbara and U.C. Davis, completing an undergraduate degree in Animal Physiology in 1984. He graduated from the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988; afterwards, Steve completed a rotating postgraduate internship emphasizing Emergency Medicine and Surgery at the Sacramento Animal Medical Group. In 2016, Dr. Dana completed further study in Anesthesia and Critical Care as a Don Low Fellow at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. When not in clinics, Steve kayaks, does crazy open-water swims if not in the pool, or might be found on his sailboat Pacific Wind in Mexico, British Columbia - or somewhere in between - with his wife Lori, herself a skilled RVT.
