Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Melissa Jacobs DVM grew up in beautiful British Columbia, Canada and moved to the Bay Area in 2007. She completed an undergraduate degree in Physics/Astronomy/Mathematics at University of Victoria, and worked briefly at an engineering company before finding veterinary medicine as her true calling. She graduated from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine magna cum laude, then moved on to a rotating small animal internship focusing on Internal Medicine, Emergency and Surgery at the University of Minnesota. She then completed a fellowship in Emergency and Critical care at UMN for one year, after which moving to the Bay Area to complete a specialty Surgical internship at Veterinary Surgical Associates. Since completing that program she has been working in general practice and emergency clinics in the Bay Area. She has been with us at Whipple Ave Pet Hospital since January 2017 on a regular part-time position, the other part-time being a community college Biology Instructor at Foothill College. She loves dogs and cats, teaching, movies, hiking, travelling, and spending time with family and friends
