Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Kelso received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly, SLO in 2003. After working a few years as an RVT in San Diego, she moved to Scotland to attend University of Glasgows School of Veterinary Medicine. While at Glasgow, Dr. Kelso was able to participate in veterinary projects which took her to India to help a non-profit shelter treat the overwhelming population of street animals in Ahmedabad, and to North Cyprus to aid in sea turtle conservation and research. Dr. Kelso graduated in 2011 with her Bachelors in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) (the UK equivalent of the DVM degree) with a distinction in small animal clinical studies and was inducted into the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). After graduation, Dr. Kelso then completed an internship with Pennsylvania Specialty and Emergency Associates in Plymouth Meeting, PA. This internship focused heavily on emergency medicine and critical care as well other specialties such as internal medicine, cardiology, and radiology. Upon conclusion of her internship, Dr. Kelso moved back to San Diego where she worked in a progressive small animal hospital until moving with her family back to the beloved central coast. Dr. Kelso joined the team at North County Animal Hospital in 2018, where her professional interests include radiology/ultrasound, critical and geriatric care, and a great appreciation for the bond that families form with their pets. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Kelso spends loves to spend her time with her husband, Chris, their son Joseph, and their beloved pets. She enjoys camping/hiking, swimming, sailing, traveling, and community volunteering.
