Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Shruti Vaikhary graduated from school of Veterinary medicine, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), India in 2000. She went on to continue her clinical year at school of Veterinary medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca. She also completed her Master's degree in Pharmacology to further advance her knowledge of Veterinary drugs. Dr. Vaikhary comes from family of doctors and medicine has been her passion since she was a child. She was moved into helping and healing animals after she lost her 8 month old puppy "Blackie" who was born blind and failed to thrive. Dr. Vaikhary moved to Bay area in 2002 and since then has lived and worked in many places including San Francisco, Peninsula & East Bay. Over last 8+ years she has worked extensively with small animals (cats and dogs) and few exotics while emphasizing on client communication, preventative care, internal medicine and surgery. She believes in customized preventative care plan for each patient based on their lifestyle and exposure. Her special interests include ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery and dentistry. In addition to general practice, she has several years of emergency medicine experience, working night shifts and performing life saving surgeries at early hours in the morning.
