Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Grotes desire to become a veterinarian began at the age of 4, when his parents took their ailing Dalmatian to a local veterinary hospital. After that time, whenever anyone asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, his answer was always the same: a veterinarian. The pursuit of that career culminated when he graduated from Colorado State University in 1970. Throughout the years since then, Dr. G has had many wonderful experiences in the field of veterinary medicine, and he considers every day as a veterinarian an adventure. Prior to joining our team, he was the owner of four other veterinary practicesone in Colorado and three in Californiaand has consulted with other veterinarians to help improve their business models. His favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are surgery and ophthalmology, and he loves how different his interactions are with each animal he sees. He believes animals have a unique and sometimes challenging personality, so in his eyes, no case or day is ever boring. Working at Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital has been an extremely rewarding experience for Dr. Grote. He and the rest of the team work hard to make sure every animal is treated compassionately and professionally with the most modern medicine. With the countless positive interactions he has with pets and their owners from day to day, he considers it a pleasure to work with and for his clients.
