Veterinarian Overview

I grew up in rural Ohio on 6 acres of undeveloped land. I saw snakes, spiders, deer, raccoons, muskrat, on a daily basis. I spent all of my free time outside observing animals. I had ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, parakeets and many other pets. I graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in zoology . I applied for Veterinary School, but was not accepted. No matter what, I was going to have a career working with animals. I received a Bachelor of Arts from The Exotic School of management and training from Moorpark College. I trained rats, chickens, wild pigs, and a lion. Exotic animals became a passion. I began working in the circus after school. I raised and trained tigers. We had about 65 gold and white tigers, several elephants, a lion, and several bears. I worked closely with the veterinarian. I applied to Ohio State Veterinary school again and was accepted. I worked at the circus compound during my summers. I worked one year in New York at a veterinary hospital that also treated rescued wildlife such as birds, turtles, Eagles, deer , opossums, raccoons, etc. I then worked at several veterinary hospitals for about 20 years. I’ve worked with dogs, cats, birds and many exotics. I am currently working at Center-Sinai Animal Hospital examining and treating birds dogs, cats, reptiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, etc. NOTE: If you simply have a question about an avian pet, for example about your pet bird’s basic health care, or beak, claws, feathers, diet, or anything else, please visit our article on basic bird health care facts. Ian
Doctor Oliver. I am seeking you out, your practice was closed and the records for my dogs Molly and Murphy cease to exist. But my Dogs are alive at age 16. I have no clue if you will even receive this notification but I am willing to travel to wherever you have retired, as I was told you had retired when I went to the Venice boulevard location. Molly has developed a form of cancer in her front leg that has yet to spread but COULD, and I am always going to value your opinion over any other Vet. So if you see this, and you are willing, and the options offered by the VCA are as limited as I believe they are going to be (which so far boil down to chopping off Molly's leg or letting her waste away from cancer), I want your opinions, and your diagnosis. I hope this reaches you. Sincerely Ian Dean
