Veterinarian Overview
Dr. May grew up in the Panhandle town of Sudan, Texas. It was there that he worked on a farm and was involved in the care, raising, and showing of just about every animal possible. As a result, he came back to his roots working with and caring for animals and he gets up every morning and does it! Dr. May is the equine vet for ECVVH and also sees dogs and cats one day a week for acupuncture and chiropractic care. He has been with ECVVH since November, 1985. He is a 1977 Graduate of Angelo State University School of Animal Science, a 1980 Graduate of Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine at College Station, he was certified in Veterinary Acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (I.V.A.S.) in 1988, has basic certification in Veterinary Chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (A.V.C.A.) since 1992, and advanced certification in Veterinary Chiropractic by the A.V.C.A. since 1995. He is a founding member and was President of the American Association of Veterinary Acupuncture (A.A.V.A.) from 1992-2000 as well as President of I.V.A.S. from 2006-2008. He is also the editor of the I.V.A.S. Equine and Canine Acupuncture Point CD. Dr. May's special interests include equine dentistry, herbal medicine, and chiropractic care of companion animals. He is a member of both the American Veterinary Dental Society (A.V.D.S) and the International Association of Equine Dentistry (I.A.E.D.).
