Veterinarian Overview
Dr. David Barnes knew he wanted to be a veterinarian since he was nine years old, when he and his brother rescued and tamed snakes, chipmunks, and even a magpie. He later worked for local veterinarians while attending high school. Dr. Barnes earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis in 1979, where he was awarded a University of California Regents Scholarship for highest honors. Dr. Barnes spent two years on a Christian mission in Spain, where he had also attended most of high school while his family lived there. In 1983, Dr. Barnes earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis and moved to Cameron Park. After working at the San Francisco Zoo for a year, Dr. Barnes practiced at other veterinary clinics in the area. He established Goldorado Animal Hospital in 1989.
