Long story, I’ll try to be short…. Had a cat 10 years ago who had a very puffy, runny discharge eye. Two vets said he had some sort of infection. Prescribed antibiotics, did nothing, got worse. Brought my cat to Dr. Zarfoss when she worked in El Cerrito. She persisted until she found the reason for my cat’s puffiness. He had a small piece of something lodged in his eye and she got it out. Two days later, his eye was almost back to normal. Fast forward, and 10 years later, I now have a cat who has entropion. Painful for animals as their bottom eyelashes invert in, causing pain, scratches and possible ulcers. I looked for Dr. Zarfoss but she was no longer working in EC….. about four months went by and by chance, I went to a vet with my cat for an unrelated matter, who suggested I call an ophthalmologist she knew to help with my cats eyelashes. That there was a procedure done by injecting hyaluronic acid to reverse them so they come out as they should be. When she said her name, I jumped for joy!! I immediately made an appointment for my cat to see Dr. Zarfoss….. Not only is Dr. Zarfoss a great Ophthalmology Doctor, but she’s a very compassionate and caring one. I trust her completely and I’m so grateful to have re-connected with her. After his injections, my cats eyelashes are out and he looks like he’s enjoying life a lot more these days! Excellent Doctor!!! Look no further!!!

Our dog, Tuna, had an ulcerated eye which was very serious. Dr. Zarfoss gave us options for treating his eye. We didn't want him to lose his eye so we opted for treating his eye with drops which was time sensitive and required a lot of patience with Tuna. Dr. Zarfoss explained in great detail how serious it was for us to be extremely diligent with the whole procedure to see if it even helps Tuna. We also didn't realize how much pain he was in until we started putting the drops in his eye. In time we noticed he became cooperative. I believe he realized the meds were helping him. In the end, by following Dr. Zarfoss' instructions, he's been a happy dog with his sight. Dr. Zarfoss and her staff were so kind and patient with Tuna. I think he likes going to see them. Dr. Zarfoss complimented us on how well we did to help Tuna keep his eye/eyesight, which made us feel like good caring and loving parents. We did all this due to the expertise, her teaching, openess, honesty and concern of Dr. Zarfoss...our forever ophthalmologist for Tuna and Honey Pie.
