Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Patricia Novak received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She worked at Life Care Animal Hospital in St Paul for over 12 years before joining St. Francis Animal & Bird Hospital in October 2009. During her career, she has also worked at South Hyland Pet Hospital.Pattis professional interests include hospice/palliative care and behavior. She is currently planning to pursue further education in the area of animal hospice and palliative care. Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy, but Patti is dedicated to providing support to families as their pets reach this stage of their lives. She enjoys counseling caregivers on environmental modifications, pain management, and supportive care for their aging pets. During school, she also focused extra course work on animal behavior giving her the tools to incorporate behavior into her consultations. She is a member of the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.She is married to Dr. Ralph Weichselbaum, and they have two children: Kipling and Anton. They have recently enjoyed participating in the foreign exchange program by hosting high school students during the school year. They share their home with 4 cats, 3 guinea pigs, 2 hermit crabs, and 1 cockatiel. In her spare time, she volunteers at her children's schools and church. She is also involved with Decoding Dyslexia-MN (DD-MN), a grassroots organization seeking literacy change in Minnesota. She also enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling.
