Veterinarian Overview

Dr. Tate is a 2011 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. After vet school, she accepted an internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. During her internship she broadened her knowledge base in medicine, surgery, and emergency and critical care with additional elective rotations in the Sports Medicine and Imaging Departments. At the conclusion of her internship she accepted a position with North Atlantic Equine Associates in New Jersey where she worked at Monmouth and Belmont race track. Dr. Tate found that working within the Thoroughbred racing industry furthered her practical knowledge due to the volume and diversity of the cases that she managed. Dr. Tate is very interested in lameness and diagnosis in the equine athlete and because of this interest she has focused much of her continuing education toward lameness diagnostics and imaging. Dr. Charlotte Tate grew up in North Carolina where her grandmother taught riding and bred Welsh ponies. She participated in Pony Club and later moved to show jumping, combined training and eventually eventing. Throughout high school and college she was as a working student and competed up to the intermediate level of Eventing. Over the years, injuries to her personal horses and the rehabilitation necessary to return them to athletic performance were what inspired her interest in veterinary medicine. Dr. Tate resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia with her two Corgis Chester and Bridget and her cat Mugatu. She is happy to be living close to her family in North Carolina. Dr. Tate enjoys running and cycling (both road and mountain), and Crossfit.
