Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Behrends became interested in becoming a veterinarian while working on a project in Los Angeles with the zoo. She went on to earn a BS in Economics from Texas Tech University in 1990, an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1991, and a DVM from Texas A&M in 2000. She has 3 years of experience in general practice and 15 years of experience in emergency and critical care, which she considers her specialty. She is also a proponent of alternative medicine, including veterinary acupuncture (in which she is certified) and laser therapy. Dr. Behrends says that her favorite part of her job is seeing the love that people have for pets who are treated as part of the family. She has a lab named Hilde and a Yorkie mix named Cricket.
