Veterinarian Overview
Even at a young age, growing up in Ashland, Pennsylvania, Dr. Fetterolf had a strong interest in science and medicine. She spent a lot of time with her uncle who was a nurse and attributes his influence on her as a major factor in her career decision. She can remember saying, I want to be a pediatric neurosurgeon long before she really understood what that meant. After high school she attended the University of Pittsburgh to study pre-med and earned a double major in Neuroscience and Biology and a double minor in Ecology and Chemistry, graduating with a Bachelor of Science. Although on track to attend (human) Medical School, she decided to move to Brisbane, Australia where she studied Marine Zoology at the University of Queensland. Upon returning to the USA, she began a Masters of Science in Oceanography at Texas A&M University (TAMU). It was during this time that Dr. Fetterolf realized how much she missed medicine. While completing her MS she researched a career in Veterinary Medicine and gained employment as a Small Animal Orthopedic Veterinary Technician at TAMU. A year later she was accepted into TAMUs College of Veterinary Medicine.
