Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Weed joined Cumberland Animal Hospital in 2014. Originally from Freedom, Maine, he received a BS in biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and his doctorate at Tufts Universitys Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from Tufts he did a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut. Following his internship he moved to RI and worked in a busy emergency and general practice for 14 years. He was chief of staff for 12 of those years. Dr Weeds focus includes surgery and internal medicine. He has training in endoscopy and basic ultrasonography. Dr. Weed has interest in zoo medicine. He has had the opportunity to perform lifesaving intestinal surgery on a mountain lion at Buttonwood Park Zoo. He has also helped with multiple surgeries at Southwick's Zoo. Outside of work he enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing with his wife Cheryl, sons, Hunter and Easton, and dogs, black lab Drake and a brittany named Blaze.
