Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Peter Blauner grew up in rural Long Island where the roots of his love for horses and veterinary medicine began. Today Dr. Blauner makes his home in Chester county with his wife, Mary, 3 Labs and 4 horses. Dr. Blauner graduated from the University of Connecticut, summa cum laude in pre-veterinary medicine. He then went on to the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1981 before starting his own practice in 1982. Veterinary interests include lameness and sports medicine in the performance horse, and Dr. Blauner is a member of ISELP (International Society for Equine, Locomotor Pathology), AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners), and the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). He is one of a handful of veterinarians who is also American Farrier Association Certified, making him uniquely positioned to understand your horses feet and to communicate effectively with your farrier Dr. Blauner is a FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale) official veterinarian qualified in the disciplines of show jumping, dressage and three day eventing. Dr. Blauner is a regular member of Mr. Stewarts Cheshire Foxhounds and is an active and successful competitor at United States Eventing Association (USEA) sanctioned events. Highlights of his equestrian career include winning the highest placed Amateur Rider Award at the Fair Hill International Advanced Three Day event held during the 2003 Pan Am Games. Additionally Dr. Blauner was the USEAs Leading Master Amateur Intermediate Rider in the country in 2014 competing Clifton Eagle, his 13 year old New Zealand Thoroughbred (pictured). He is also a licensed private pilot with instrument rating and his own plane, a Beechcraft Sierra, making him available to fly anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic region for pre-purchase and lameness exams.
