Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Melissa Maxwell has been employed by Valley Veterinary Associates as a veterinarian since 2000. Born and raised in eastern PA, she could always be found happily doing chores, taking care of the farm animals even at a young age. After graduating from Tamaqua Area High School and Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, Melissa earned her veterinary degree from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Melissas home life in Murrysville is surrounded by plenty of activity. Her human family includes her husband, Andrew (a local brewmaster), a son and a daughter. Her current animal family consists of four dogs (ttwo border collies named Frenzy, Shady and a mixed breed named Digger), four cats (Otis, Rufus, Grey-C, Buckeye), and a Quarter Horse gelding named Star. With any available spare time, Melissa can be found road biking, horseback riding, training in dog agility, or fishing in Avon, NC. Professionally, one of Melissas main focuses is in behavioral medicine and laser therapy.
