Veterinarian Overview

Growing up in an Air Force family, Rick and his two siblings were accustomed to moving at three-year intervals when Rick’s father received his next assignment. When Rick was in eighth grade, his father decided to retire from the military, and the family settled in Worthington, Ohio. Rick enjoyed his high school years there, often competing in cross-country meets and basketball games. After Rick’s high school graduation, he attended and graduated from Ohio State University. Next, Rick tackled veterinary school, and in 1982 graduated from Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Diedrich moved to sunny Lake Worth, Florida, setting up a two-doctor practice with another veterinarian. After several months, Dr. Diedrich and his wife decided to return to Ohio, settling in Cleveland in 1983. After working in Lorain, Ohio for several years, Dr. Diedrich purchased the Pet Med Clinic in 1990; and he replaced it with a brand-new facility in 1997. During his many years of practice, Dr. Diedrich most enjoys educating his clients about their pets’ health. He has also seen remarkable advances in pet pain control, most notably from nutrients and laser therapy. Dr. Diedrich also likes solving pets’ skin and gastrointestinal problems. While finding the problem’s cause and choosing the correct treatment takes some first-class detective work, Dr. Diedrich has achieved many positive results. He’s encouraged by always-improving treatment methods that may help his future patients. Dr. Diedrich is glad he settled in the northeast Ohio region and raised his family. While Dr. Diedrich stays busy with his veterinary practice, he enjoys reading and karate in his free time. When he has a good-sized time block, he likes traveling to Mexico. Linda stays active with tennis and Jazzercise; and she also focuses on local and international charitable work. The couple enjoys visiting their adult son and daughter, each of whom has children of their own. Within the next few years, Dr. Diedrich and Linda plan to travel the northwestern United States in a comfortable recreational vehicle. They plan to see Yellowstone, Deadwood, South Dakota, and other sights that appeal to them. Of course, their beloved dog Keeper will travel along with them. Clever Keeper has wrangled himself a spot on the Pet Med Clinic staff. This affectionate dog accompanies Dr. Diedrich to work every day, and he often snuggles up to Dr. Diedrich’s clients in the exam rooms. While he might just appear friendly, Dr. Diedrich thinks it’s a ploy to get his attention so Keeper can receive an extra scratch behind the ears.
