Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jerry Buchholz was born and raised in Casselton, North Dakota. After graduation from Central Cass High School, and after serving in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam era for 4 years, he came back to North Dakota and attended NDSU for his Pre Veterinary courses and was accepted into University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1977. After graduation from veterinary school he worked in the White Bear Lake and Maplewood areas of St. Paul for 2 years. Jerry came back to North Dakota and started the Bismarck Animal Clinic in 1979. This was the first veterinary clinic in Bismarck and also the first exclusive small animal practice west of Fargo.Throughout his professional career he has been a lifetime member of AAHA, AVMA, NDVMA and The Bismarck Animal Clinic has been AAHA accredited since 1990. Dr. Buchholz has been president of the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association and has served as President on the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Examiners Board. Dr. Buchholz has been writing a column in Dakota Country Magazine for 5+ years, both promoting veterinary medicine and educating the public on the complexities of veterinary medicine, including diagnostics and new medications available to veterinarians, and addressing animal health issues as they affect their pets.
