Veterinarian Overview

Although Dr. Bailey Reynolds’ father is a veterinarian himself, she didn’t always want to follow in his footsteps. That changed when she started working in restaurant management in her native Milwaukee, where her neighborhood had a severe stray cat problem. Along with a friend, Dr. Reynolds helped get several cats spayed, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations, and eventually found them loving homes. It didn’t take long for her to start pondering a career change! Dr. Reynolds hasn’t looked back since—now, she’s an Associate Veterinarian with the Kanuga Animal Clinic team. Dr. Reynolds first started at a veterinary clinic in 2006, where she worked full-time for two years. By then, she knew that she’d found her true calling! She decided to go back to school, and attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville for her undergraduate degree. After graduating in 2012, she was accepted into North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine to earn her animal-care degree. Dr. Reynolds obtained her Doctorate in 2016 and joined the Kanuga Animal Clinic team shortly afterward. Medically, she’s fond of ophthalmology and diagnostic imaging, and also hopes to become certified in veterinary acupuncture in the future. Most of all, Dr. Reynolds likes educating clients and practicing preventative medicine in order to better the lives of the area’s pets long-term. Dr. Reynolds lives in Asheville with her boyfriend, Josh, and two elderly cats named Rhubarb and Tortilla. Rhubarb has traveled with Dr. Reynolds all the way from Milwaukee, and likes acting as the house guard-cat while remaining sweet as can be with her owners. Tortilla enjoys rough petting sessions and doesn’t let her diagnosis of feline immunodeficiency virus slow her down in the least. When time permits outside of work, Dr. Reynolds enjoys crafting, repairing antiques, visiting breweries with Josh, gardening, and hiking through the beautiful scenery of the Smoky Mountains.
