Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Kaplan is the founder and previous owner of Ruxton Animal Hospital. A Baltimore native, his love for dogs and cats began at the tender age of six. He graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1964 and from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1967. Dr. Kaplan pioneered three veterinary hospitals in the Baltimore area before launching Ruxton Animal Hospital in 1996. He quickly established Ruxton as a practice dedicated to quality medicine and superior service. His reach goes far beyond Ruxton and his commitment to the veterinary profession is evident in his time served as both an officer and board member in the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association and the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association. With a dedication to continuing education and fervent pursuit of excellence, Dr. Kaplan aptly earned the title of one of the areas Best Vets from Baltimore Magazine in 1997. Dr. Kaplan resides in Baltimore with his husband, Steve, and their Cairn Terrier, Gertie.
