Veterinarian Overview
Jim Tibbs is a native Washingtonian, a product of the public and parochial schools, graduating from Archbishop Carroll in 1968. Undergraduate and professional degrees were earned in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine in 1976 from Tuskegee Institute. Post graduation Dr. Tibbs obtained USDA Accredited Veterinarian status, and his first employment was as an Assistant Professor/Extension Specialist in the Department of Animal Science, North Carolina State University. Subsequently he returned to the D.C. area, entered private practice and served as a Veterinary Medical Officer with the Food and Drug Administration. He is licensed in the District ofColumbiaandMaryland.Dr.Tibbs has been active in many veterinary organizations. Nationally he has severed on committees of the American Veterinary Medical Association and held office with his Alumni Association. Locally he has served as President of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association and the Prince George's County Veterinary Medical Association. Jim's service to the community has included being a board member of the P.G. County Fair Board, P.G. County Animal Control Commission, Patuxent River 4-H Foundation and serving as a Maryland Racing Commission Veterinarian. Frequently he participates in Career Days at area schools.
