Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Valri E. Brown and I decided to become a veterinarian when I was very young, about in the 8th grade. I loved horses, dogs, and cats and much to my mother's dislike of some of these critters, my sister and I kept finding them and sneaking them into the house (got in a lot of trouble for that one)! Anyway, time went on and I knew that being a veterinarian is what I wanted in life. I attended Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and graduated in 1982 with my DVM degree. I moved to Louisiana for a "temporary" internship here, and then I bought a practice! I have owned THE DOG & CAT CLINIC since 1985. I have two wonderful sons, that really prefer cars, baseball, auto-mechanics, and girls (not veterinary medicine)! I am very proud of them for the young men they have become. Arabian Horses are my passion and my biggest and most enjoyable "hobby." We have a 100-acre farm on the west side of Shreveport where there are 45 beautiful mares, stallions and babies. It is the second largest Arabian farm in the state of Louisiana. I enjoy breeding and foaling and I love to spend time riding. Visitors are welcome. I also have 6 great dogs and lots of cats that like to hang out at the barns! I love my work, and especially enjoy the interaction with the clients and their animals on a daily basis. I love my staff and appreciate the service they give to our clients and me. "Behind every great veterinarian is a great staff."
