Veterinarian Overview
Grant Minnemeyer, DVM is a 2010 graduate of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, his goal was to learn and experience as much as he could from different practices in the US and abroad. Dr. Grant was fortunate to spend time in Nevada, Colorado, Kentucky and even New Zealand. During this time he was able to observe and learn from a variety of practicing equine veterinarians. After graduation from Purdue, he spent a year as an intern at Conley & Koontz Equine Hospital in Columbia City, Indiana. While there, he was able to gain an invaluable amount of knowledge and experience. Many nights were spent administering treatments, performing emergency surgeries, and foaling mares. He even lived at the hospital which provided a unique opportunity to be immersed in equine veterinary care.Though Dr. GrantÂ’s original interest in veterinary medicine was the equine athlete, he has found that keeping the backyard pasture pet as healthy as possible provides great enjoyment as well. A mentor, the late Dr. George Platt, taught Dr. Grant the importance of the veterinarian-farrier relationship. This relationship has allowed him to learn and treat patients in cooperation with some very good farriers. Client education is very important and he takes pride in providing client education seminars and working with local 4H groups. Dr. Grant grew up in Ellettsville and enjoys being a part of the south central Indiana community that was so important to him those early years. When not working with animals, he enjoys hiking, fly fishing, and has even been known to make a really good pie. He now resides in Owen County with his wife, son, and two mischievous pups, Pete and Sammy.
