I took my cat Beau to Dr. Rechner in June 2023 after his diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma. While the first visit with Dr. Rechner was as expected, nothing extraordinary but nothing of concern either, after making the decision to go ahead with palliative radiation therapy I never saw Dr. Rechner again. Beau had 4 cycles of radiation therapy with palliative intent. Dr. Rechner's staff or anyone from the clinic even called to see how Beau was doing after the first cycle of RT or the subsequent cycles. After the second cycle of RT I brought up to the attention of Dr. Rechner's staff that Beau was squinting his R eye ( the side where he was having RT) but no one ever got back to me regarding this. I had to take Beau to a different clinic to address this problem. Moreover, at the completion of his last cycles, Dr. Rechner called me to let me know that Beau had completed therapy and " she had nothing else to offer". She stated that Beau would not have side effects from the RT because it was palliative radiation. But this was absolutely not true. It was very disappointing to see a veterinarian working in oncology with so little empathy and care for a patient. I regretted so many times the decision to trust Beau to the care of this veterinary. I have given 1 bone as a score becuase you do not have a lower one. Beau was the sweetest cat and the most easy patient (cat) that any vet could wish for.
