Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Starr provides a wealth of experience and knowledge in the fields of veterinary physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, and chiropractic care (veterinary spinal manipulative therapy). She has been practicing physical rehabilitation for over 12 years. Early in her career, Dr. Starr completed a rotating internship at a busy specialty, emergency, and general practice hospital on the East Coast, after which, she continued to practice general medicine and became the head of the physical rehabilitation department. After moving to Chicago, Dr. Starr worked at a comprehensive Physical Rehabilitation Clinic for 5 years prior to starting Pets in Balance. She strives to address owner concerns while providing compassionate care for their pets. Her goal is to help pets achieve optimal health and activity through promoting pain control, addressing mobility issues, and focusing on a healthy lifestyle with preventative care and nutrition. Dr. Starr graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Spanish prior to completing her veterinary degree at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She believes achieving balance is important both in work and life, and transfers that energy into her work. Dr. Starr loves to travel, explore new places, and enjoy the outdoors. When not hiking, running, biking, swimming, or skiing, she and her husband enjoy attending concerts, exploring the Chicago dining scene, and spending time with their pets. In years past, she experienced physical rehabilitation first hand after having ACL surgery on both of her knees to repair injuries sustained on the soccer field. While she supports the local sports teams, Dr. Starr remains an avid Duke basketball and Ohio State football fan to this day.
