Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Fife, who is originally from Salt Lake City Utah, began his career in veterinary medicine in high school, working as a technician in a veterinary specialty practice. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Utah, and graduated cum laude from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Dr. Fife had a special interest in ophthalmology during veterinary school and had the opportunity to work as a research assistant in the department of ophthalmology at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, studying wound healing following glaucoma filtration surgery. Following veterinary school he completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Virginia Tech University, and went on to a residency in comparative ophthalmology at Eye Care for Animals in Tustin CA, the largest residency training program in the United States. Dr. Fife completed his residency and obtained board certification from the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2008. After practicing in Las Vegas, Nevada and Southern California for several years, Dr. Fife returned to Florida in 2010. He was an associate ophthalmologist with the Animal Eye Specialty Clinic in Melbourne prior to establishing the Veterinary Ophthalmology Center. Dr. Fife has had his research published in journals including Veterinary Ophthalmology; Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science; and the Journal of Experimental Biology. He has also presented research at meetings of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology.
