Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jessica Anderson grew up in South Florida where from a very young age, it was apparent that she had a passion for horses. She became involved with American Saddlebred show horses and competed at shows all over the country while growing up and through college. She also spent summers riding pleasure horses in the mountains of Montana where her father grew up. In 2009, Dr. Anderson earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida. She spent the next two years working for various equine practices as a veterinary technician in Lexington, Kentucky and Ocala, Florida. It was during this time that her interest in equine veterinary medicine grew, and she knew that her dream would be to become an equine veterinarian. Dr. Anderson went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies, after completing her clinical year at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in January of 2015. She then promptly moved across the country to Southern California to complete a 16 month internship with West Coast Equine Medicine in Fallbrook. Dr. Anderson has joined our team and is now a full time associate here at Taylor Equine hospital. She will be available for all of your horse's veterinary needs including emergency calls. Her particular interests are in equine sports medicine, alternative medicine, and rescue horse rehabilitation, but she truly enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary medicine in general. Dr. Anderson is currently enrolled in a program and is undergoing training to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the CHI Institute of Integrative Veterinary Medicine in Reddick, Florida. She anticipates earning this certification in December of 2016, and is looking forward to being able to offer Acupuncture therapy to the patients of Taylor Equine Hospital. Outside of work and study, Dr. Anderson enjoys traveling and going on adventures with her rescue dog, Carib, who she adopted during vet school in St. Kitts.
