Veterinarian Overview
Dr. April Durtschi, a native of Long Beach, received her veterinary medical degree from Colorado State University in 2002. She completed a rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York. She relocated to Northern California to work in private practice in Sacramento for a couple of years, before pursuing her interest in cardiology. Dr. Durtschi completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri in cardiovascular science and then completed a 3-year residency in cardiology at the University of Tennessee in 2011. Shortly thereafter, she passed her specialty exams and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, specialty of cardiology. She worked in Connecticut for a few years before returning to Southern California in 2015. For the last year, she has worked for a large specialty practice in Orange County and will continue to provide high quality patient care to her patients in Orange County and Lawndale. Dr. Durtschis interests include advanced management of congestive heart failure, early detection of feline heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and arrhythmia management. She lives in Irvine with her husband, daughter, an ornery orange cat, Figaro, and her rabbit, Canary. She enjoys geocaching and science fiction.
