Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Rose Peters graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 followed by a rotating internship in medicine and surgery with the VCA specialty hospital group in the Chicago area. She moved south to work as an emergency veterinarian in the New Orleans area for nearly 4 years during which time she advanced to work as the lead doctor of the ER department. Neurology has always been her passion, however, and she left New Orleans in 2010 to pursue a Neurology & Neurosurgery internship with Veterinary Surgical Centers in Vienna, Virginia followed by a 3-year Neurology/Neurosurgery residency at the University of Florida. Dr. Peters is board-certified in veterinary neurology and also holds the ACVIM certification in Neurosurgery. After obtaining her board certification, Dr. Peters spent some time developing a neurology service with the Medvet specialty group in New Orleans. Her special areas of interest include refractory seizure management, inflammatory diseases of the nervous system, feline neurological disorders, and neurosurgery of the brain and spine. Dr. Peters focuses on practicing with compassion and understanding. She is committed to helping owners to understand their pets disease in order to make informed decisions for medical care, and believes in taking a team-approach with owners, referral partners, and other specialties to provide the best care possible for her patients.
