Veterinarian Overview
After serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era; Dr. Sminkey attended The University of Vermont majoring in Wildlife Biology and Forestry. Upon graduation he served as a Vermont State Game Warden in southern Vermont for over a decade. After attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in beautiful St. Kitts, he obtained his veterinary degree in 1994. Several years of practice throughout New England were followed by him purchasing of The Noank Mystic Veterinary Hospital in Southeast CT. After more than ten years of practice ownership he moved on to other veterinary interests and opportunities, including a year spent rescuing dogs for a non-profit group out of North Carolina. Dr. Sminkey lives in Stonington CT. and enjoys helping clients with veterinary house calls as well as living in an exquisite part of the state. He and Dr. Hansen shared unique educational and life experiences attending veterinary school in St. Kitts and work together today, as part of the exceptional team here at Ash Creek Veterinary Hospital.
