Dr. Sanders was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Incarnate Word High School (1990) and the University of the Incarnate Word (BS Biology-1995), and obtained a Post Baccalaureate in Medical Technology from the University of Health Sciences (1999). She knew at an early age that medical science and animals were her passions, and that veterinary medicine was her calling. She obtained her veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 2004. After graduation, she practiced in Colorado and Arizona, working in both private practice and some of the largest and most progressive animal shelters in both states, including the Arizona Humane Society and the Denver Dumb Friends League. In 2012, she returned to San Antonio to be closer to family. Dr. Sanders clinical interests include internal medicine, infectious disease, preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, nutrition, pain management, and acupuncture. In 2017, Dr. Sanders completed the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course. She is passionate about taking a more integrative approach to her patients well being. Dr. Sanders hobbies are: practicing yoga, doing home improvement projects, reading, and going on adventures with her family. She is lucky to have a husband (Rob) and two daughters (Natalie and Emily) who are the loves of her life, and who support her passion for animals. The Sanders familys animal menagerie includes 3 dogs, 2 cats, fish, and a guinea pig-all former rescues or shelter residents. Dr. Sanders feels the best part of being a veterinarian is getting to know every patient and owner personally, and helping her patients live their best lives.
