Dr, Neal, we are so heartbroken and totally hurt over the way Paris’ death was handled by you. Because we have been so upset we waited about sending this to you, because we didn’t want to be harsh and say something we would regret. It was not an easy decision for us to have her euthanized, but we made the hard decision not for us, but for her. We made the decision because we couldn’t stand to see her suffer. The last night we had her she let us know she was in pain, so we knew it was the right choice for her. You have treated our dogs for years so we would think you would have no doubt what they meant to us and we would do anything to improve their health. You not letting at least one of us come in to be with her during her final moments was very hurtful. We understand all about the coronavirus but we have seen numerous doctors during the last 6 months. We have both had several dental appointments. There are ways to be careful. I would think you go to the grocery store, doctor’s appointments, etc. yourself. We can even understand you choosing not to let people come in with their pets for checkups and treatment during this time, but it would seem having a pet euthanized should be treated differently. We thought at the least you would have spent one minute to come to the side door and to tell us it was over and how it went. We would not have known anything if we hadn’t said we will wait about paying until someone lets us know it is over. Because you didn’t come we really didn’t even know if they were telling us the truth. At that moment we so wished we had taken our friends’ advice and gone to several vets that allowed pet owners to be with their pets that were euthanized. We have not been able to find closure because we were not able to be with her to the very end. We feel guilty that we could have done better for her and we didn’t. We hesitated to send this, because there is no changing our situation, but then thought you might become aware of how your actions hurt us and maybe spare someone else in the future.
