Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Melmed was born in South Africa but immigrated to Dallas as a young child. She attended veterinary school at Texas A&M University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999. Following veterinary school, Dr. Melmed pursued her internship at The Ohio State University and subsequently returned to Texas A&M University to complete her internal medicine residency. Following her residency, she practiced internal medicine in the DFW area for 5 years before starting VMS of DFW with Dr. Pickens in 2008.Dr. Melmed enjoys all aspects of medicine but has a special interest in oncology, immune mediated disease and renal disease. Dr. Melmed lives on a farm in with her husband, two young children, 1 horse, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 3 alpacas, 1 llama, chickens, guineas and zero chance of ever sleeping in again.
