Dr. VanAntwerp graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1994 after early admission in 1990. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Animal Science in 1991 while completing her first year of veterinary school. While in veterinary school she did externships with the AVMA government relations division in Washington DC and also at the Oklahoma City Zoo as well as a general practice. She has been with Carrollton West Pet Hospital since 1995. Her veterinary interests include preventative care, senior care, internal medicine, cytology, and nutrition. She has a special interest in the human animal bond and the use of animals with people in physical and mental therapy and the benefits to all parties involved. For the past 15 years Dr. VanAntwerp has been a presenter at the American Association of University Womens Reach for the stars program designed at keeping 7th and 8th grade girls interested in math and science careers. She also has been involved with other career day and educational opportunities for children/youth and enjoys having these students shadow for a day at the clinic. Her other animal interests include sea turtle rehabilitation. Her pet family includes three English bulldogs, and several farm cats, ducks, rabbits and turtles that have all been rescued.
