Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Joy Goode has been a part of the Frederick Veterinary family for over 15 years! She graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993 and began her career in dairy medicine, gradually transitioning to companion animal medicine and surgery. Her undeniable passion for animal medicine stems from the opportunity to observe, study and enjoy the human-animal bond, particularly the diversity of each individual human-animal relationship. Dr. Goode spent many years at our office as a full-time veterinarian but is currently practicing here part-time as she offers relief-veterinarian services around the area. Through her relief-veterinarian work Dr. Goode has had the pleasure of providing many local animal hospitals and their veterinarians much needed, and well deserved, time off for vacations, maternity leave, illness and continuing education. Dr. Goode grew up on the Severn River near Annapolis, Maryland and now lives in Reisterstown, Maryland with her husband, Don. Together they make a home for 3 dogs (Jackie the Jack Russell, Elizabeth the Beagle Mix, and their latest adoptee, Julie an older Beagle) 4 cats (Tigger, Cimi Cimi Cocoa Puff, Darla and Little One) as well as 3 roosters and 16 hens! In her spare time Dr. Goode can be found practicing/studying sustainable and organic farming with her husband or attending civil war events and museums.
