Veterinarian Overview
Rebecca Csomos, VMD, PhD is a veterinarian residency trained in Surgery at MedVet Mandeville where she has been part of the surgical team since 2016. Dr. Csomos attended the University of Michigan where she earned both a Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. degrees prior to earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Csomos completed a yearlong rotating small animal internal medicine and surgery internship at the Animal Medical Center followed by a three-year small animal surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin College of Veterinary Medicine.Dr. Csomos decided to be a veterinarian after finishing her PhD in Cancer Biology. She combined her love of animals and desire make a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of pets to become a veterinary surgeon. Dr. Csomos maintains an interest in all aspects of small animal surgery with particular interest in surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery, interventional radiology, thoracic and abdominal surgery, and fracture stabilization and repair.When not treating patients, Dr. Csomos spends her free time cycling, running, participating in team sports, as well as supporting community service and charity events. During veterinary school, Dr. Csomos volunteered as a veterinary technician for the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Sea Turtle Rehabilitation in conjunction with the Audubon Nature Institute and Louisiana Marine Mammal & Sea Turtle Stranding Program.
