Ashley E. Detwiler, DVM, Diplomate ACVD is a board-certified Veterinary Dermatologist at MedVet Cincinnati and MedVet Dayton where she has been part of the medical team since 2014. Dr. Detwiler attended the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Detwiler completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and a three-year residency in small animal dermatology at the Michigan State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.Dr. Detwiler has been awarded multiple grants to research dermatological issues including the Heska American College of Veterinary Dermatology Research Award and the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine Endowed Research Award. Her research on multi-drug and methicillin-resistant staphylococcus infections was presented at the annual National American Veterinary Dermatology Forum in 2013 and 2014 and published in Vet Quarterly.Since becoming a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, Dr. Detwiler has authored and co-authored scientific articles published in a variety of veterinary publications. She is an active advocate of continued education for veterinary professionals and has lectured on small animal dermatology to veterinarians, veterinary students and veterinary technicians.Although Dr. Detwiler maintains an interest in all aspects of small animal dermatology, she has particular interest in otitis (ear disease), management of resistant skin infections, environmental and dietary allergies, immune-mediated and autoimmune disease. She enjoys the challenge of figuring out a dermatologic condition and is passionate about helping her patients feel more comfortable.When not treating patients, Dr. Detwiler enjoys scrapbooking, watching movies, biking, rollerblading and spending time with her husband, family and many pets.
