Veterinarian Overview
Adrienne Barchard Couts, DVM is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Toledo where she has been part of the medical team since 2007. Dr. Barchard attended the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Barchard completed her clinical education at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine.Prior to joining MedVet, Dr. Barchard worked in a general veterinary practice and was the state veterinarian for a Standardbred racetrack in Toledo. She refocused her career to emergency medicine and joined the Animal Emergency & Critical Care Center of Toledo in 2007, which became MedVet Toledo in 2015.Dr. Barchard maintains an interest in all aspects of small animal emergency medicine with particular interest in feline lower urinary tract obstructions, fluid therapy, and management of obstetric (birthing) emergencies. When not treating patients, Dr. Barchard enjoys spending time with her husband who is also a veterinarian, her family and many pets which include a dog, cat, goat, horse, rabbit, many chickens, and koi fish.
