Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Gabrielle Ravina, a native New Yorker, developed her love of animals at an early age. It was no surprise to her family that by the age of twelve, she already knew she wanted to become a veterinarian. She achieved this goal in 1997, graduating from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. From there she went on to a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia. After that she packed up and headed West, landing quite by chance in Santa Cruz, where she began her career. She spent more than 6 years working at Pacific Veterinary Specialists, as an emergency veterinarian. Working at PVS gave her the opportunity to see many challenging cases and to work alongside specialists in internal medicine, surgery, oncology, critical care, and radiology. She transitioned to general practice with Los Gatos Dog and Cat Hospital in 2006, and has been here ever since! Dr. Ravina has a deep love for the human-animal bond. Her special interests include behavior and end-of-life care. In October 2015, she started her own GabbySylvesterbusiness, Peaceful Paws Veterinary Hospice, in order to provide end-of-life care for pets in the comfort of their home. She shares her home with her partner, Hayden, their two children Dylan and Scarlett, and their two polydactyl cats, Rascal and Roo. When she is not working, she can be found surfing, cooking, volunteering at her childrens school, sweating at the gym, or communing with nature.
