Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jessica Cantrell was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. After graduating from Arizona State University with her BS in Microbiology, she attended graduate school at the University of Arizona. There, she worked to develop an anti-cancer vaccine currently in human clinical trials, and received her PhD in Cancer Biology. After graduate school, she received her DVM from Colorado State University. During veterinary school she continued performing research, with a special interest in clinical/translational oncology research and education. She also became certified in small and large animal Veterinary Medical Acupuncture through Colorado State University. After graduating from veterinary school, she started a small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego. Her interests include veterinary oncology, critical care, acupuncture and pain management, as well as strengthening the human animal bond to make a difference in the lives of her patients and clients. Dr. Cantrell spends her free time taking long walks on the beach with her hound dogs, Moose and Bear; surfing, physical fitness, and continuing to practice veterinary medical acupuncture.
